Dear Readers,
My yearly review is coming up soon. I’m considering asking for a daily 30 minute nap, instead of a raise. I’m a little nervous this will make me look “immature” or “psycho” or “drug addicted”. I am none of those things…well maybe a little immature…I’m just tired. I don’t know why we ever had to give up our daytime naps.

In the summer I will exchange my nap time for recess. Neither of these shall coincide with my lunch hour.

What do you think? Should I go for it or continue to fear judgment?

Sincerely,
Poor Lucky Me

I love the idea! It would be nice if employers offered something like this. I think that productivity would increase. Good Luck to you…

You should couch it (pun intended) like this: “I heard of a company in California that’s offering a 30-minute nap time / recess time to its employees as a new benefit. They’re seeing an increase in employee morale, productivity and recruitment across the board. And studies have shown that so-called ‘slack time’ increases your ability to stay focused and solve complex problems.”

The second part (about the research) is true, and the first part is plausible. That’s how I would do it, because a) it makes it not your idea, so you can’t be judged as a slacker and b) it shows that you’re thinking of ways to improve the company’s bottom line. It’s a win-win.
