Does This Ad Make You Uncomfortable? Tuesday October 11th

Right outside the balcony of our new apartment is a big, well-lit billboard. I love how often they change it and how low-budget the ads always are. My favorite so far has been Burger King’s $1 Cherry Icee. I liked the Clear ad so much I signed up for their service. But I woke up this morning to the most glorious billboard of all (pictured above).

The copy asks “Does your furnace make you this comfortable?” then pictures two naked guys playing what seems to be the tiniest pool table in the world. Is this billboard saying that their furnaces make you so comfortable you’ll explore your bi-curiosity? Or so comfortable that you won’t scream and pass out when you find a naked bearded ginger playing pool in your miniature rec room?

I just hope they leave this one up for a while. It’s so relaxing to be sitting on the couch, gazing at two naked dudes made ambiguously comfortable by their furnace.

Who were the ad wizards who came up with this one?

By the way, I want their furnace.

    A few thoughts:

How comfortable do you have to be to park your sweaty ginger ass on someone else’s furniture?

At least they had the decency not to have one of those guys bent over one of the pool pockets. That would make me really uncomfortable.

And…is that Mr. Fantastic, from the Fantastic Four, lining up a shot?

This ad makes me want to buy 9 or 10 of these furnaces. One for me and the rest for friends as Christmas presents. These models are so attractive. And consummate professionals. They make the room appear so warm, comfy, and cozy. So hey y’all. Enough with the critics. These guys are troopers and also so cute!

The models ARE attractive and obviously troopers. My criticism is not for the talent, it’s for the idea of the ad. Don’t worry Handsome Red Head’s Mom, we support your son’s work! Thanks for commenting!

i pass by this billboard on my way home often and i’m always wondering about those dudes and the concept. the ginger guy reminds me of “eliot” from the show “thirtysomething” and doesn’t really seem to make sense with the salt and pepper dude. it’s like they aren’t meant for each other and yet they’re together, up there, naked on that billboard playing NUDE POOL.
